Student Volunteer Days

Horse Care Volunteer Opportunities for Kids 6th-12th Grade

Are you in 6th to 12th grade, love animals, and want to learn about caring for horses? During Spring Break 2025 (4/14-4/18), we have limited openings for students to join our chore shifts! Sign up for one slot or all!

Please note that while student volunteers will get some hands-on horse time, this opportunity includes physical work, cleaning, and participants will get dirty. This is a no-cost opportunity but we ask families please consider making a donation to support the horses.

Why volunteer?

  • Learn Valuable Skills: Gain hands-on experience in animal care, teamwork, and responsibility while learning from our skilled volunteers.

  • Make a Difference: Help care for rescued horses and donkeys, contributing directly to the sanctuary’s mission.

  • Explore New Interests: Whether you love animals, want to learn about horses, or simply love being outdoors, this is the perfect chance to explore your passions.

  • Build Connections: Work alongside experienced staff and peers who share your interests, all in a supportive and fun environment.

  • Boost Your Resume: Participation in our student volunteer program is an opportunity to showcase your initiative, work ethic, and compassion—all qualities that stand out on college applications and job resumes. We are happy to write recommendation letters for outstanding students.

Student volunteer days are offered seasonally and space is limited. Please view the calendar to see when the next chore shifts are available. There is no cost to sign up but we ask that you please consider making a contribution toward our horses’ care as we are a 100% volunteer run organization.
